Earlier this year we saw a ring-necked pheasant, which was cool since they aren't really supposed to be in the south-east, but were more common where my parents grew up in the mid-west.Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17344258382472241723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5656074693450416622.post-82423265839058104552011-11-21T08:35:39.595-08:002011-11-21T08:35:39.595-08:00That is awesome! Some Texans are so stupid. They build cheap homes in these animals' territory and then kill them when they intrude.

I'm so happy knowing someone else who delights in wildlife. :) Glad you keep your phone camera at the ready. They will come to the feeders even if we are outside working on the patio.

Weekend mornings I fill the peanut ring and the blue jays entertain me with their persistence in removing every single peanut and hiding it somewhere for later consumption. They work so hard to pull one peanut out of the ring and then fly away to hide it and then come back for another. Sometimes I get the feeling they would prefer I just put the peanuts out on the ground to make the process faster, but that would just be too easy :-)PostMusehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10577063129345816693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5656074693450416622.post-80008339298327055262011-11-20T07:05:00.936-08:002011-11-20T07:05:00.936-08:00Oh boy..possum's are just ugly! Bumping into a possum or a raccoon at night can be rather dangerous as they both are known to carry disease and they both have a nasty bite!

Birds on the other hand are too cool! S/he is pretty bold and doesn't run when I turn on the outdoor light. Only opening the door scares it away. I really don't mind whatever it is doing out there, but I don't want it too comfortable since I plan to be sitting out on my new patio in the evenings every night starting in the early spring and I don't really relish the thoughts of bumping into a wild animal if I happen to stroll away from the patio.

Mostly we have wild birds in our yard. Lots of them. I am the crazy bird lady of the neighborhood.PostMusehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10577063129345816693noreply@blogger.com
