New Pens!!

I have some awesome readers! Truly. You guys (and gals) are awesome!! You are better than awesome...you are..amazingly awesome! Ok enough of that..but seriously. You are!

I recently got two Pilot pens from two different people, in the same week. Granted this was a couple weeks ago, but being as I was a bad blogger and wasn't doing my writing, I am gonna post about them now.

 You are looking at the Pilot Petit 1, which is a fountain pen and the Pilot Precise V5 which is a rollerball.

 They are both quite nice and from his view you can see the tips on each of them. I like the compactness of the Pilot Petit 1. It literally fits into your pocket and is sturdy enough that I am not afraid of it snapping and causing a mess. The Pilot Precise V5 is a very fluid pen. The point is extra fine which I love. It makes writing on small areas (think address labels) very easy!

Overall, these pens by Pilot are wonderful additions to my stolen pen collection. =)  Thank you dear readers for sharing some of your favorites, or new finds with me. I really appreciate it!

Had you heard of this story? A 78 year old lady accidentally swallowed a felt tip pen 25 years ago. The crazy thing is, when they x-rayed her before they said it wasn't in there. However, they recently found it when she was being diagnosed with some stomach issues.

They said the pen did not cause the stomach issues, but I think it probably wasn't helping the situation. The craziest part of this whole thing... is that the pen actually WROTE! Imagine that as a business slogan. "Pen-Thief Brand Pens. So strong stomach acid is no match!"

Have you heard of anything like this before?

Yesterday I bought a package of Papermate Profile pens. I really like them because they seem to fit in my hand perfectly. Plus when writing on lined paper (which I prefer) they write very smoothly with very little (in my opinion) drag on the paper.

But as I sat at my computer last night, I found myself wondering how long it takes me to completely use a pen. There are a few that I really like, that I tend to use up rather quickly though I do not think I USE them that often. This got me thinking that if I kept a register then I would know.

But then how would I remember which black Papermate Profile was bought when? I remedied that by putting the date of purchase directly on the pen bodies, being careful not to cover up any of the identifying marks (such as the brand or type).

Pretty simple..now will I be able to stick to it? We shall see, but if nothing else I will be able to see how long a pen has been in my possession which will still be pretty neat to know. =)

No New Adventures

So I had no new adventures today. I worked on putting my postcards into the plastic sheets that I mentioned in yesterday's post. I have caught up on blog posts and such, so I think I am good to go.

Tonight brought a trip to Walmart though. And well...it seems as though I can never really stay out of the pen/paper/stationery aisles. So while Brad looking at computer stuff, I spent some time in the pen aisle. I have been wanting to try the Sharpie pens because they claim there won't be much bleed through depending on the paper. SO..I bought a package and figured I would put them to the test.

Then I turned around getting ready to go find Brad when I saw the clearance pens. Talk about a grin.. I ended up selecting two pens to try. The first set is made by Pilot and they are actually 86% recycled material...what materials you may ask...well...water bottles! How neat is that. Take a look at the Pilot B2P:

The other pens I selected out of the clearance was the Bic Triumph 730R. They seemed like something interesting to try...so why not?

So how about some writing samples?

Well the Sharpie pen is different. It seems to me to be almost like a pen/marker hybrid. And maybe that was their point. I think I will enjoy using this one to address mail..but probably not writing any letters.

The Pilot B2P was very nice. A fluid ink, but not overly runny. I like the way that they body of the pen feels in my hand. It is just around the perfect thickness for my short stubby hands.

I actually have a few complaints with the Bic pen. The ink is very fluid. In fact it is almost too fluid at times. And for someone like me who writes pretty fast (and not in cursive) this could prove to be an issue when writing letters. The second complaint doesn't actually have anything to do with the way the pen operates..but more on how the body is designed. The end of the pen is tapered. Not a huge problem right? Until you try to stick the cap on. To me the fitting isn't snug enough.

You didn't think I had forgotten the bleed through factor did you??

Now the picture may be a little deceiving. The bleed through wasn't bad on any of them, except the Bic Triumph. I certainly wouldn't be writing on the opposite side of the paper with that one, unless the paper weight was a bit higher. Like I said..the Sharpie pen works, but is definitely not my choice to write letters with.
